EcoArt Exhibition

Primary Pallet Blue by Kimberly Tatenda Gakanje

The Green Colonialism exhibition at Mbare Art Space in Harare, curated by Moffat Takadiwa, showcases works by Zimbabwean artists Kimberly Tatenda Gakanje, Nkosiyabo Frank, and William Kachinjika. In collaboration with the University of Amsterdam and its Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR), the exhibition critically examines the exploitation of Africa’s resources, particularly lithium, under the guise of sustainability.

Three Sisters Series I by William Joseph Kachinjika

By addressing “green colonialism” and “energy colonialism,” the exhibition and accompanying workshops, led by Dr. Linda Musariri, explore the socio-political impacts of resource extraction, land dispossession, and environmental injustice. Funded by AISSR and ENLENS RPA, this initiative highlights the role of artistic and academic collaboration in shaping just energy transitions and amplifying marginalized voices in sustainability debates.

Magara Moyo by Nkosiyabo Frank Nyoni

The exhibition is curated by Moffat Takadiwa and is funded by the University of Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR) and ENLENS RPA, in partnership with the University of Amsterdam.
